Toledo Equity and Inclusion Council (TREIC)

Overview

The Toledo Racial Equity and Inclusion Council (TREIC), a collaboration of government, corporations, non-profits, and educators, was formed to facilitate the development of a comprehensive community strategy to address the root causes of poverty, dismantle systemic barriers caused by structural racism and build wealth within communities of color. TREIC commissioned C-FACTS to conduct a Needs Assessment and data analysis to objectively evaluate and understand racial disparity data that could serve as the foundation and baseline for developing a strategic plan to improve the quality of life and economic outcomes for BIPOC families.

Approach

C-FACTS provided sound data analysis that identified the physical and economic conditions of Toledo neighborhoods, educational achievement levels, community safety statistics and employment levels. We engaged the community to integrate quantitative data with lived experiences. The report is currently being used to work on key priorities and strategies to improve the overall well-being of Black and Latinx families and to revitalize targeted neighborhoods.

The team used a variety of tools and sources to conduct a deep data analysis of the environment and economic conditions of BIPOC families and neighborhoods. We strongly suggested that the City use a targeted neighborhood approach which resulted in the City of Telodo's Neighborhood Revitalization Strategy Area.
