Gary Causey is the former HUD Jacksonville Field Office Director where he served in that capacity for thirteen years before retiring in December 2017. Over his career, Gary has shared his expertise and knowledge of community development programs, including extensive USHUD disaster recovery efforts dating back to Hurricane Andrew through the more recent Hurricanes Matthew and Irma. Billions of federal dollars have also been under his oversight in the Community Development Block Grant, HOME, Emergency Solutions and homeless program funding over the past 25 years, benefitting large and small communities across the State of Florida. Throughout this period, he has also provided guidance and oversight to the State of Florida regarding funding received through HUD for the Small Cities, HOME, Disaster Recovery, Neighborhood Stabilization programs, etc. and has resolved many challenges related to the unique aspects and nuances with each congressional appropriation of disaster and special/supplemental assistance.
Gary’s proven ability to effectively implement programs designed to serve low- and moderate-income persons and resulting in positive outcomes through collaborations with grantees, partners and stakeholders has been demonstrated by his numerous awards on behalf of the Department and various HUD Secretaries. Through his dedication and overall proficiency in managing people and programs, the USHUD Jacksonville Office of Community Planning and Development has continued to be recognized as a top performing office by HUD Headquarters.
